Terms of Service for Scout

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the "Scout: Zettelkasten Notes" iOS and macOS application ("the App"), operated by Chiyoda Nameplate Co., Ltd. ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Service and Data Storage

Scout is a note-taking application designed around the Zettelkasten method. The App operates entirely locally on your device. We do not store, backup, or have access to your notes or data. You are solely responsible for backing up your data (e.g., via Apple's iCloud or manual exports). We shall not be held liable for any loss of data, text, or intellectual property created within the App.

2. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

The App offers premium features through one-time purchases (Lifetime) and auto-renewing subscriptions (Monthly, Yearly).

• Payment: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase.
• Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Cancellation: You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase.
• Refunds: All purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We cannot issue refunds directly. Please contact Apple Support for any billing issues or refund requests.

3. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the App for any illegal purposes. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, nor use the App in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our services.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chiyoda Nameplate Co., Ltd. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the App.

5. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
